What are the indicators of a good e-reputation dashboard?
An e-reputation dashboard consists in searching for mentions of your brand on the web but a good brand tracking dashboard must also respect these 4 essential points
- mentions must be segmented by source type (blogs, forums, social networks, magazines,..) in order to efficiently process each mention.
- The mentions can be weighted in order to limit the mentions that will go up in the dashboard from a certain level of engagement only and thus avoid over-information
- A good e-reputation dashboard should remove noise, i.e. remove all mentions that do not need to be processed. This includes mentions from the brand’s own sources, mentions from job sites, financial news sites, etc.
- An e-reputation dashboard is not only used to identify bad buzz but also good buzz. It can be used to identify brand ambassadors and use this community to amplify the brand’s communication.
We could talk about positive or negative mentions, but for the moment, sentiment analysis returns too many false positives for this to be taken into account. This is the case for all the tools on the market and nothing beats a manual analysis. That’s why we have set up a very fine filtering system that will avoid having too much information to process.
What are the brand mentions on blogs and news sites?
Blogs and news sites are one of the source types tracked by the dashboard. Noise is removed and mentions are weighted based on a minimum level of engagement
With your e-reputation dashboard:
- You follow in real time the mentions of your brand
- For each mention you have an engagement score calculated according to the popularity of the site and the level of interaction with the page (comments, shares on social networks, ..)
- Mentions are weighted according to their engagement and noise is removed
How to use your brand mentions?
- If the mention is positive, you can react to provide additional information to further amplify the reach of the article.
- If the mention is positive, share the article on your social networks
- If it’s negative, apply the method described in the article “What to do in case of bad buzz?”
Who is quoting my competitors’ brand?
This is not strictly speaking e-reputation but rather competitive intelligence but the principle is the same. It’s about monitoring the mentions of competitors’ brands
With your SEO dashboard:
- Know who is talking about your competitors
- with what level of engagement
- Know what is being said about your competitors, in a good or bad way
What to do with competitors’ brand mentions?
- Identify who is talking about your competitors and see to what extent they might also be talking about you
- Reply, comment when possible, especially when the competitor’s mention is negative in order to propose an alternative
Who is talking about my brand on social networks?
Another interesting source to follow when managing your e-reputation is social networks. The virality of social networks requires to be vigilant and reactive. We present here an example with twitter but the dashboard also integrates similar widgets on Facebook, instagram, linkedin, etc..
With your e-reputation dashboard:
- You can follow in real time the tweets that mention your brand
- You can follow the content of the tweets, the authors of the tweets (tweetos), the number of retweets and favorites
- You can easily sort the tweets by number of retweets for example to see if a tweet is going viral.
What to do about what’s said about your brand on social networks?
- If the mention is positive, retweet, bookmark
- If it’s positive, invite the user to subscribe to your profile
- If it’s negative, apply the method described in the article “What to do in case of bad buzz?
